Alwin Hopf is a Consultant in the Digital Agriculture, Data and Innovation team of the Agriculture and Food Practice of the World Bank. He is working on data and technology for crop analytics, yield forecasting systems and circular agriculture. Previously, he worked in the crop insurance industry, including an index-insurance initiative in East Africa. Alwin holds a BSc in Horticulture Sciences from Geisenheim University in Germany and is currently a PhD Candidate in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida in the US. His research is focused on modeling plant physiology and the participatory development of model-driven decision support systems.
